Admission and Discharge

Thank you for choosing MSU Medical Centre as your preferred healthcare provider.

Patients who have booked their admission date are advised to pre-register with us as early as possible to ensure a smooth and hassle-free admission process. If you are not pre-registered you are required to complete the necessary registration documentation.

Admission counter is located at the Third Floor, and operates daily from 8am to 10pm. Outside of these hours, kindly proceed to our Emergency Department, which operates 24 hours.

  • Admission letter from your consultant

  • Identification Card (IC) for Malaysian or passport for foreign patient

  • Birth Certificate or MyKid if you are registering for your child aged below 12 years old

  • Medical Card

  • Guarantee Letter from your company or insurance card from your insurance company (if applicable)

  • Deposit

  • If you are covered by insurance, kindly provide us the Guarantee Letter and Insurance Card for verification.

  • On average, the initial GL will be issued within 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity of your insurance assessment.

  • A deposit will still be collected if the approval is pending or if the insurance company has declined coverage. All decisions are final and any appeal is to be made directly to the insurance company.

  • For self-paying patients, you may choose your preferred room type (subject to room availability).

  • For GL patients, you will be allocated a room based on your room/bed entitlement as stated on the GL (subject to room availability). You may also choose to upgrade to a higher room type by paying the difference of room rate or co-payment (if applicable), based on your policy.

  • If your room/bed entitlement is unavailable, you may be allocated to other room types based on availability.

  • A deposit is required at the time of admission. The amount will vary depending on the choice of accommodation, type of operation or procedure and the estimated length of stay.

  • The deposit can be made by cash, debit cards or credit cards.

An admission kit will be provided to you during admission, consisting of basic toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shower gel and shampoo.

However, for your comfort during your stay, we encourage you to bring your own toiletries and personal items such as:

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Bath towel
  • A pair of non-slip slippers
  • Extra toiletries

For safety reasons, we request you not to bring valuable items such as your personal jewellery, credit cards, large amounts of money and other valuable items at home. MSU Medical Centre will not be responsible for any of the losses and damages to your personal properties that occurred around the hospital compound.

Prior to your time of discharge, our consultants will discuss the outcomes of your completed treatment. This includes going through any test results and explaining to you the after-care stages. Once the consultants confirm you are fit and medically able to leave, you are free to be discharged.

It is important that you ensure a member of your family or your friend is able to come and bring you home after being discharged.

Before you leave, please be sure that you:

  • Have taken all of your personal belongings.

  • Have taken all prescribed medication (if any), from the pharmacy located in level 3.

  • Have received an appointment card, if there is a necessary follow-up session with your doctor.
